Order of the Sacred Earth-cover.jpg

“I promise to be the best lover and defender of the Earth that I can be.”

In the midst of global fire, earthquake and flood - as species are going extinct every day and the shadow of nuclear war looms - the planet doesn't need another church or religion.

What it needs is a new Order:...a sacred community and movement:
...A movement of communities welcoming all the peoples of Earth: our varied belief systems (or non-belief systems), genders, races, classes, abilities, and nations.
...A deeply spiritual movement, free of religious institutions and grounded in the Wisdom traditions of both East and West, in leading-edge science and indigenous tradition.
...A radically inclusive Order of mystic activists, uniting our energy and intention in one sacred vow:

“I promise to be the best lover and defender of the Earth that I can be.”

This is the focus of Matthew Fox's latest book and initiative, in collaboration with co-author/co-founders Skylar Wilson and Jenifer Listug. Learn more about it at OrderOfTheSacredEarth.org

The Cosmic Mass Comes to the Washington National Cathedral!

With a theme of interracial and interfaith healing, and an exuberantly multicultural cast and crew of celebrants, artists, and volunteers, the Washington National Cathedral hosted the Cosmic Mass on February 8, 2018. Matthew Fox and the Rev. Michelle Jordan co-celebrated the liturgy,  with teaching by healing artist Richael Faithful. Michelle Jordan led the music and chants, Melissa Michaels was DJ, and Alessandra Belloni and Navasha Daya offered powerful singing ministry for the offertory and closing. Karen Rugg played Native American flute, and Skylar Wilson played didgeridoo.

Dancing and interacting with the more than 600 participants were giant puppets craftedby Mary Plaster, representing Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Hildegard of Bingen, Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Prince, John Lennon, and David Bowie.

Skylar Wilson and Mariko Pitts co-directed the event with Matthew Fox, and volunteers created four exquisite altars coordinated by Cathedral staff Michelle Dibblee, Kathryn Gaughan, and Cameron Walker.

From Book to Traveling Exhibition

This inspired series of images  capturing the ancient teachings of the Cosmic Christ was celebrated in a book by Matthew Fox and Bishop Marc Andrus in 2016, and continues to be exhibited in churches and spiritual centers upon invitation.  For more information, click on each image.

Imagine the stations at your site!

From the first conception of this project, we have held the vision that the Stations of the Cosmic Christ would make their way to every church, chapel, and retreat center, expanding the understanding of the faith community from the sufferings of Jesus to the full, rich, complexity of his life, message, and cosmic presence.

There was just one challenge to that vision: the 16 Stations created by artists M. C. Richards and Ullrrich Javier Lemus are 3-dimensional clay tablets...beautiful, original, but also fragile and difficult to transport . Since their unveiling in April 2016, the Stations have been exhibited at a number of sites in California and are slated to be shown in more over the coming year, but long distance travel remained a challenge....

...Until today,  with the creation of beautiful, high-quality replicas:  your Church or Retreat Center or Chapel can now post your own 16 Stations of the Cosmic Christ for a very modest investment! To learn how, click here.
