Lorna Byrne is an international bestselling author of the books Angels in my Hair, Stairways to Heaven, A Message of Hope from the Angels and Sunday Times. From long before she could talk Lorna was seeing and communicating with Angels – she sees them as physically as the rest of us see someone standing in front of us. People always knew that there was something ‘different’ or ‘special’ about Lorna and as her children grew older, word spread and many started to come to visit Lorna, seeking healing or wisdom. www.lornabyrne.
Matthew Fox is an internationally acclaimed spiritual theologian, an Episcopal priest, and an activist who was a member of the Dominican Order for 34 years. He holds a doctorate, summa cum laude, in the History and Theology of Spirituality from the Institut Catholique de Paris. In a conscious effort to reinvigorate Western ritual, Fox reconstructed forms of worship by going back to the pre-modern practice of dance. The result, created in collaboration with a group of Anglican youth of the “rave” generation, was the “Techno-Cosmic Mass” that mixes dance, techno and live music, Dj, VJ, Rap and Contemporary art forms with the western liturgical tradition. The Cosmic Mass continues to be celebrated in many cities across the U.S.; many people are now trained in celebrating this post-modern form of worship. – www.matthewfox.

Apr22The Return of Wisdom: Finding Our Way with Money and Work (5-day course) @ Schumacher CollegeTuesday: 6:45 pm – 7:45 pmApril 22-26, 2014 (Tue-Sat)Schumacher CollegeThe Elmhurst Centre, Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon TQ9 6EL, United Kingdom
5-Day Course with Matthew Fox, Fred Matser and Satish Kumar – The Return of Wisdom: Finding Our Way with Money and Work__________________________________
The opposite of wisdom is folly and there is much of that in economics, politics, education and religion these days. In this course we will be exploring ways of wisdom that counterbalance this folly on both a societal and a personal level, in our economics, business practices and individual working lives.
In a worldview that is dominated by a sense of scarcity, fear and competition reign alongside a win/lose attitude. In contrast, in a worldview that values sharing over hoarding and inclusion over exclusion, we can move beyond win/lose, to community or win/win. We will look at how business, society and we as individuals can rebuild our foundations to be less about win/lose and scarcity and more about community caring and sharing.
Money is, among other things, an energy and a way to have influence. We have a choice how to influence. An authentic economy must recognise cycles of nature and learn to take responsibility for the environment by bringing back energy into it. Instead of hoarding, we can view money as something dynamic that can be used to influence the economic process in a functional, sustainable way.
We do not need to compete and hoard, we can ‘compare with care in order to share’ so that instead of merely investing for the sake of making more money, we can invest so that the money will circulate and be functional to many. The bottom line then is not about making ever more money, but about deeper caring and sharing, and creating more initiatives rather than hiding money in some offshore place so it will make more money for those who already have plenty.
Work is our way of giving back to the world, it is often the reason we are here on earth. With so many people out of work or employed only part-time today around the world, we have to ask ourselves what really is work and what lessons do we learn about ourselves, about values, about community, about our time and how we spend it. Ultimately, through work, we can learn about why we are here on earth. Matthew Fox talks about ‘the priesthood of all workers’, meaning that all people who are doing good work are ‘midwives of grace’, the archetypal definition of priest. How can we in our various professions be the ‘midwives of grace’?

Our Emergence into Christ Consciousness with Matthew Fox
The Cosmic Christ Archetype is a universal way of seeing the world; it is an imperative for our time. Found in wisdom literature, Paul’s writing, John’s Gospel, as well as the Christian mystics, it is the divine presence and radiance that is continually incarnated in all creation. It calls us to a deep ecumenism and a path of wisdom for the healing of the planet.
