TRUMP AND THE MAGA MOVEMENT AS ANTICHRIST:
Recognizing the Archetype of Evil in Our Time

Matthew Fox, Foreword by Caroline Myss, Afterword by Andrew Harvey

Every day in America, we debate events, motives, and politics, yet often lack the imagination to perceive and name what often lurks within: evil.

Matthew Fox, one of our nation's most evocative theologians, argues that Christianity's great symbols, stories, and works of sacred art were never meant merely to describe evil. They were meant to train us—to see how evil disguises itself, seduces, and leaves chaos in its wake.

This is the revised version of Fox’s explosive 2024 release, updated as we approach the midterms of Trump 2.0 amid the rise of American fascism and Christian nationalism.

An Archetype of Evil for our Times…and Keys to Prophetic Action

While lecturing in Orvieto, Italy, Matthew Fox encountered the powerful fresco of the Anti-Christ painted in the 15th-century Cathedral by Luca Signorelli. He portrays the Anti-Christ in the context of his day and culture. This archetype reminds us of the dark side of humanity and politics. Fox’s creative and critical eye turns it into a searing device for examining the deep stakes in the 2026 midterm election.

Matthew Fox tells us that he had always shied away from using the term “Anti-Christ” because it was so often used to spread control and fear. However, given today’s rise of authoritarianism and forces of democracide, ecocide, and christofascism, he turns the tables in this book empl0ying the archetype for the cause of justice, democracy, and a renewed Earth and humanity.

From the Foreword: If there was ever a time, a moment, for examining the archetype of the Antichrist, it is now…Read this book with an open mind. Good and evil are real forces in our world. ~~ Caroline Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit and Conversations with the Divine.

From the Afterword: Matthew Fox is our living elder statesman of the authentic Christian mystical tradition. This book may be the most important of all the great and pioneering works he has graced us with over five decades as our greatest living Christian theologian. ~~ Andrew Harvey, author of The Son of Man: The Mystical Path to Christ and Love is Everything: A Year with Hadewijch of Antwerp.
